by Lose 10 Pounds on December 15, 2008

Everyone is excited to go the grocery or the supermarket. In fact, most people look forward and try their best to patiently wait for the grocery shopping day. This is because grocery shopping day means being able to buy all the foods that you want and once again indulge. But grocery shopping shouldn’t be something you look forward to for all the wrong reasons.

While you still have the time and the opportunity, why not try to change your grocery shopping habits and change your grocery list from fattening to healthy. Of course, healthy eating differs from person to person so it is best to provide consumers with at least a basic healthy grocery list.

Grocery items are categorized accordingly. Once you step into the grocery, make sure that you have your list on hand to guide you which aisle to go to first and which aisle to avoid.

Vegetables

Vegetables should definitely be part of your healthy grocery list. Make sure that you have the basic vegetables like carrots, lettuce, tomatoes, celery, squash, potatoes, onions, broccoli, corn, radish and more. Choose vegetables that you can eat alone or use as ingredients for other types of dishes. Make sure that you choose the freshest vegetables most especially if you know for a fact that these would be kept inside your refrigerator for a long time.

Fresh Fruits

Avoid buying canned fruits because those are processed, have sweeteners and aren’t fresh! Choose among a wide range of fresh fruits like mangoes, bananas, apples, oranges, grapes, watermelon, melon, and more. You might want to grab the opportunity of buying fruits that are seasonal as you might only get to taste it within a period of time.

Seafoods

You can never go wrong with sea foods like fish, lobster, squid and more. Sea foods are healthy to eat and should definitely be included in your healthy grocery list.

Meat

Pork and Beef should also be included minimally in your healthy grocery list. Pork and beef are also important to the body but avoid cooking these with too much oil and avoid indulging on too much meat as this can trigger high blood pressure and heart-related illnesses.

Fresh Juices

Avoid buying sodas. Instead opt for fresh fruit juices. Make sure that you read the labels of bottles and cans to make sure that the fresh fruit juice you are buying is really fresh and does not have preservatives.
