Does South Beach Diet Really Work?

by Lose 10 Pounds on March 3, 2009

The South Beach Diet believes when people process fat and carbohydrates in a different way, they will shed extra pounds. In order to do that, the craving for sugar is eliminated.

The Overview

There are three parts of the diet. In the first phase, processed sugars are completely eliminated. For fourteen days, no processed sugars can be eaten. The two-weeks is meant to rid dieters of the sugar eating habit.

During the second phase, the foods that were eliminated are brought back in. Moderation is the key during this phase.

When dieters move to the third phase, they focus on maintaining their weight. This phase focuses on people using what they have learned in order to keep the weight off.

Meal Preparation

The diet focuses on fresh meat, fruit and low carb meals. The cost of some of the meal ingredients can be expensive. In addition, people with children will likely want to prepare a second meal for their children.

People who are on this diet do not have to cook every meal. There are prepackaged meals available at most grocery stores.

Vegetarians need to look at the requirements and see if they can follow the diet and the choices offered.

Does it Work?

Those who have strong control can get the diet to work. The first phase can be difficult, but those who are able to get through the phase and continue on with the diet can do well. Dieters who follow the plan can lose weight.

Exercise is not needed to lose weight with this diet. It does not come with an exercise plan. However, more weight can be lost when dieters choose to incorporate exercise with the diet. If they choose to do so, they will need to use their own workout plan. You can also check out in-depth diet program reviews to help you decide if this program is right for you.
