You will need to watch out for signs which may show that your child is heading into the world of childhood obesity.

Obesity is becoming more and more common in children these days because of a number of factors. Many kids spend a lot of their time sitting around watching television or playing video games, which is not helping with weight loss

Go back a number of years and you will see that children didn’t have video consoles, computer games, or hundreds of channels on the television. The only escape kids had those days was to play outside, which not only kept them active, but burned a lot of calories.

A major reason for childhood obesity is how little exercise kids engage in today's world. There are many kids out there that spend all their waking hours stuck in ront of a screen playing on their video consoles, which in turn leads to weight gain.

You can look at food as another major cause as to why children suffer from obesity. Most of us have to work longer hours, and in this day and age it is often a necessity. This results in families not eating together in the way that they used to.

Not many people will have the time to produce home cooked meals each night? It isn't easy to locate food that can be described as being healthy, because of modern production methods regarding food. Much of our food contains additives and various chemicals, so cannot be considered healhy in any sense of the word.

There is no simple answer to this problem. However in regards to food, the best that any parent can do is to start introducing more vegetables and fruit into their children's diets. The thing to keep in mind is that parents must also eat what they are trying to get their children to eat. Parents need to follow the same rules as their children if they want any chance of success. This won't work.

As for physical activity, this can and should be influenced by parents if they want to avoid the problems of childhood obesity. The responsibility for our kids physical activities lies with parents initially. This is done by joining in with the kids in any activities, and not just buying your child a ball and kicking them out into the garden.

Of course making changes is not easy, especially when kids have fallen into certain habits. Introduce any changes gradually. Stick with it, and go the distance. If you stick with it, your child will have to come around to it sooner or later, and will start to lose weight

Take a good look at your child today, and see if the life that they are leading at the present is a life that is heading into childhood obesity, if you are seeing the signs, then it is time to make changes and get your child losing weight
