Trying to exercising with crunches and leg lifts to aim at reduction of belly fat, you’ll find that you will reduce muscle mass beneath your abdomen instead of the belly fat you were hoping would disappear forever. Because of this, you need to concentrate on a general healthy diet that can increase your rate of metabolism, and burn fat more quickly – not just on leg lifts and crunches.

Myth #2: Drastically reducing your calories will take off your body fat: many people have reached the brink of being on a crash diet with this one. Even though people think crash dieting will melt those extra pounds, they need to realize they are hurting their bodies more than helping them. Fasting or starving will cause your body to resort to starvation mode, in an attempt to keep the body alive. In this mode, your body responds to the perceived threat by slowing your metabolism and burning your muscles to produce energy, avoiding using the unwanted fat that your body keeps in reserve. In this way, excess fat will not be shed – only your important muscles. When you’re finally off your crash diet, you’ll gain even more weight than before.

Myth #3: The only type of exercise that will assist in your weight loss is cardio: False. Yes, Cardio is useful in helping you lose fat, but aerobics are an excellent alternative with the same benefits. The advantages of these two types of exercise are very similar. An even better choice of exercise which is considered better that aerobics or cardio is weight lifting, because it burns fat during the workout as well after you stop. The best way to lose extra fat is to combine weight lifting and cardio into your regimen.

Is The Atkins Grapefruit Diet A Real Diet?

There is a diet that really has nothing to do with the Atkins diet, called the Atkins Grapefruit diet, that combines elements of it’s famous namesake and an all grapefruit diet. Here is some information that shows the diet may be a fraud, or at least misleading.

You’ll be hard pressed to find information about the Atkins Grapefruit diet, such as any details of the company that produces it. One common element of cons is that clear information is generally hard to find. This possible con does it’s best to make people assume it has something to do with the official Atkins diet.

Is the Atkins grapefruit diet something that was found locked away in a safe by the late Dr. Atkins? Nope – the Atkins company doesn’t mention the diet on its web site, and the most critical phase of the famous diet called the Induction phase does not allow any fruit.

Here is what can be eaten in the induction phase – sorry Atkins grapefruit diet, no fruit here:

An type of fish All fowl such as turkey and chicken Shellfish of any variety Meat, such as beef and pork Any style egg Any variety of cheeses All sorts of vegetables Any herbs and spices to make food more exciting Butter, lard, any oils Water and other low carb drinks including diet soda

Unfortunately for the Atkins grapefruit diet, there no fruit. Later phases of the Atkins diet for fat loss do include limited amounts of fruits such as cantaloupe and even lemon juice, and the pre-maintenance and maintenance phases even specifically allow small quantities of grapefruit. The Atkins grapefruit diet, however, relies on grapefruit to a much greater degree than would be allowed in the original Atkins diet.

There’s a lot of grapefruit in the Atkins grapefruit diet – up to 18 carbs. Even the most generous phases of the Atkins diet, when it comes to grapefruit, recommends limiting intake to below 8 carbs per day. That’s a severe disagreement.

Most reasonable people would look directly at the Atkins site the moment they heard of the Atkins Grapefruit Diet. It starts to sound fishy when there’s no mention there.

Truth about diets review: Keep this in mind. Only fad diets – diets to be followed for short periods – rely heavily on one food because eating that way isn’t healthy. The Atkins Grapefruit Diet is not associated with the Atkins diet, and may interfere with the results of the Atkins diet in its early phases.

Portion control isn’t easy when large portions are so common. Restaurants serve over large portions, as do most people at home. The FDA and other sources list recommended daily allowances. And remember portion size when you eat at restaurants, especially fast food restaurants. You’ll likely have to cut down on what a restaurant serves.

Eat more whole grain foods, skip the white grains such as white bread, sugar and white rice. Whole grains are rich in nutrients and low in fat. The fiber in whole grains helps you become full faster, and feel fuller longer. Finally, whole grains add nutrients that many people lack in their diet. Drink more water. Drink it instead of juices and sodas which add about 90,000 calories to the average person’s diet each year. Drink it between meals too. The goal is 8 glasses of water each day. It’s easily possible. Drinking water will also promote health in general by keeping you well hydrated and helping to avoid overheating.

In order to maintain proper blood sugar eat healthy snacks between meals since the body needs food every three to four hours. Eating healthy snacks, such as fruits, helps control eating at meal times.

With some knowledge and planning, fast weight loss is easily possible. Keep these things in mind and pretty soon you’ll see a slimmer you when you look into a mirror.
