Six Pack Abs, How To Get Yours

One of the most common questions I get from my clients is “how do I get six pack abs”? This has got to be the number one goal of everyone out there. Who does’nt want a lean, tight torso.
But how do you get one? Over 90% of you will work your abs 3-4 and sometimes even 5 times a week. Repeating sit up after sit up. Wondering if the latest fad diet will give them the edge. They will spend money on thermogenic supplements thinking they will get quick results.
Does this ring any bells?
Sadly, if this is you, then you will never achive your goal. Why? The reason is because what you have based your ab workout around is incorrect. And it’s based “spot reduction” It is the greatest misconception in the industry.
If you are not sure what spot reduction means, it simply implies that you are able to burn fat from a specific area of your body. An example would be doing side crunches to burn off your love handles. The idea that you can burn fat from one area of the body is TOTALLY false. It is not possible to target one area. I have never seen a woman with fantastic legs with muffins hanging over her jeans.
You can only achieve fat loss with a diet and exercise program that puts your body in a calorie deficit where you burn more than you eat, you then lose fat from your whole body. We have no control over this, its just how it works.
Are you wondering what this has to do with six pack abs? It has everything to do with it.
We were all born with a set of abs; the problem for most as we get older is that they are hidden under a layer of fat. They are there, you just cant see them yet.
Now we know that spot reduction does not work im going to suggest something a little bit different from what you have been told over the years; your abdominal exercises almost have nothing to do with getting six pack abs Goes against what the fitness magazines tell you, right? Achieving six pack abs is almost entirely a result of your overall body fat percentage.
You’re still not sure? Ask the less than 10% who have a great six pack because this is what they know and trust. They use their gym time wisely and focus on diet as much as they do with their training. Im not saying you can forget about ab exercises, they are still important. If you can lower your body fat percentage your abs will begin to show through. They are there, you just need to encourage them to come out.
